"There are no short cuts to anyplace worth going"
John C. Maxwell
Foundations of Life
Growing up in a small town of just three hundred people fosters a strong sense of community, family and support. However, it also means that everyone is aware of each other's affairs and has opinions to share.
Unsurprisingly, there was plenty of chatter about a teenage girl becoming a single mother in her first year of college. Yet, the support from my family and closest friends drowned out the rumors and whispers. Motherhood was not an excuse to abandon my ambitions; I had goals and dreams that I was determined to pursue.
Discovery of purpose
Parenthood accelerates the journey of growing up. I was committed to achieving success while being a devoted mother. This experience fostered my independence and perfectionism, yet it also deepened my Christian faith and revealed my life's greater purpose: to utilize my skills and gifts to assist others.
Thus began my ongoing journey of guiding others. For nearly thirty years, I have had the privilege of helping humanity by listening, supporting, teaching, and embracing people for who they are. My diverse background in mental health counseling and business building success has given me a wealth of experience from which to draw.
My daily motivation stems from my desire to fulfill the purpose for which God created me, guiding me to uphold my values of Faith, Compassion, Humility, Humor, and Hard Work.
Navigating the curves
Not everything has gone perfectly. This pursuit of perfection has led to challenges that required resolution. The constant feeling of never being "enough" impacted my relationships, parenting, work, and mental well-being. Believing in my own value was a long process!
Committing to daily personal growth is essential for fulfilling life's purpose and deepening my faith. While challenges are a part of life, they shouldn't be an excuse to compromise on becoming the person you Aspire to be.
